Canyon View Medical Group is seeking the services of a Certified Medical Coder. The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing all submitted charges and ensuring accurate and timely claim submission through the practice management system. Medical Coders review all charges submitted for accurate rendering provider, order of entry, specificity, mapping, modifiers, appropriateness, and more according to internal departmental standards. They are also responsible to create and respond to system tasks and worklog procedures in a timely and accurate manner.


  • Responsible to be an expert in reviewing and assigning accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services performed by physicians and other qualified health care providers.
  • Be proficient across a wide range of services, including evaluation and management, surgical services, radiology, pathology, laboratory, and general medicine.
  • Have a sound knowledge of coding rules and regulations including compliance and reimbursement.
  • Be willing to integrate medical coding and reimbursement role changes into our routine reimbursement procedures.
  • Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology necessary to correctly code provider diagnosis and services.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally with physicians, mid-levels, administration, and all other staff.
  • Must maintain adequate productivity and quality assurance at all times.
  • Must follow all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Must respond to all tasks timely and accurately.
  • Must ensure thorough and accurate follow through on all tasks and all work related procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • High School Degree or Equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on coding experience preferred.
  • Coder Certification (CPC or CPC-A)
  • 10-Key by Touch (minimum of 10,000 kpm)
  • 40 WPM Typing, verifiable
  • Working knowledge of general medical office procedures.
  • Working knowledge of legal aspects of patient and insurance collections necessary.
  • General computer skills required, including the ability to use the Internet and learn other computer applications successfully.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
